Shri Mohit Bhargava, ED-RE & CEO,NGEL presented the outline of proposed Green Hydrogen Strategy for Ladakh to Shri R K Mathur, Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor-UT of Ladakh today at his office in Delhi.


While expanding his vision of Ladakh as the first state & UT of India to be based on hydrogen as primary energy source, Hon'ble LG praised NTPC for its pioneering and relentless work on making energy accessible and affordable for the masses and its effort in taking up pilot projects on hydrogen technologies.


Shri Bhargava also briefed Hon'ble LG Shri Mathur on progress of Green Hydrogen filling station at Leh that NTPC is executing and plan to operate 5 Hydrogen Buses in 2023. To the voiced concern of ED-RE and CEO NGEL on high cost of green hydrogen technologies, Shri Mathur stressed the unique ability of green hydrogen to afford energy security and carbon free future of Ladakh in specific and India in General.

Hon'ble LG emphasized the fact that Decentralised RE and green hydrogen use together will make the Ladakh region energy-sufficient to a very large extent and preserve the pristine environment. He also encouraged NTPC to support Ladakh in realising Hon'ble Prime Minister 's vision of Carbon Neutral Ladakh (CNL).
